The Grape Harvest Square and the Hanging Houses
Although the Plaza de la Almijara is the heart of the town, my advice is not to stay there alone and walk a little towards another of the most interesting corners to see in Cómpeta: the Plaza de la Vendimia.
Although monumentally speaking it will not surprise you, it is a very important site. It is here that the 15th of August is celebrated every year. Night of Wine, the most beloved festival in Cómpeta and which I will tell you about below.
If you look closely, you will find 3 ceramic murals depicting the making of muscatel wine and also a sculpture of a grape picker carrying a large basket of grapes on his head. On the other hand, from the square you have some very beautiful views of Cómpeta and the so-called Hanging Houses. Although they are not (by any means) comparable to those in Cuenca, these white houses built on rocks seem to fall over the old course of the river that divided the town before. In the Plaza de la Vendimia there is also a small hermitage, that of San Isidro Labrador.
Also, on the way from Plaza Almijara you will pass through Calle Toledo or Calle Plazoleta, which, in my opinion, are two of the prettiest, hiding charming little squares full of flowers where there is always a trigger sleeping peacefully.
